Root vegetables like potatoes generally tolerate drum or brush washing well given their thicker skin and structural firmness. Bulb vegetables — onion and garlic — are more damage-prone and benefit from bubble washing or significantly reduced-pressure brush washing, with careful attention to drop heights and transfer point design throughout the rest of the line. A single washing line running mixed product types needs either adjustable settings per product or, more reliably, product-specific washing stages rather than one fixed configuration for everything.
