The Meatech MT-CFD centrifugal dehydrator removes surface water from washed or blanched vegetables and fruits by spinning product at 800–1,000 rpm in a perforated stainless steel drum — using centrifugal force to expel water through the drum perforations while the product remains contained. At 600 kg/h capacity and 1.1 kW power consumption, the MT-CFD is a low-energy, high-throughput water removal step that significantly reduces the moisture entering the IQF tunnel or packaging machine — improving IQF free-flow quality, reducing surface ice formation, and increasing packaging machine seal reliability on products that exit washing or blanching with significant surface water.

▌Product Description

The Meatech MT-CFD centrifugal dehydrator removes surface water from washed or blanched vegetables and fruits by spinning product at 800–1,000 rpm in a perforated stainless steel drum — using centrifugal force to expel water through the drum perforations while the product remains contained. The 1.2 mm SUS304 food-grade stainless steel drum plate construction (1,100×700×950 mm, 304 material throughout) withstands the repeated acceleration and deceleration cycles of batch centrifugal operation and the chemical cleaning protocols of a food processing environment. Unlike air drying (MT-AD), which removes surface moisture by air velocity over a longer conveyor length, the MT-CFD removes moisture in a batch centrifuge cycle — making it more suitable for products where the dehydration requirement is high (after water blanching or full immersion washing) and where a compact footprint is preferred over a long drying tunnel.

Role of MT-CFD

IQF Vegetable Lines

Post-blanch and post-ice-water-cooling dehydration before the IQF tunnel. Removes bulk surface water after ice water cooling, complementing the MT-AD air dryer — the MT-CFD handles the bulk water removal (batch centrifuge, high water extraction); the MT-AD handles the final surface moisture removal before the IQF inlet.

Fresh-cut vegetable packing

Post-wash dehydration of cut vegetables (salad leaf, shredded carrot, coleslaw mix) before packaging — excess surface water in fresh-cut vegetable packs accelerates microbial growth and reduces pack shelf life. The MT-CFD reduces pack moisture to the level required for the target shelf life.

Blanched vegetable processing

Any vegetable blanching line where product exits the blancher with significant surface water requires a dehydration step before the next stage. The MT-CFD is the compact, low-energy option for this function.

A:  The MT-CFD centrifugal dehydrator removes bulk water quickly and efficiently in a batch cycle — suited for products that exit washing or blanching with significant free surface water (wet broccoli florets after ice water cooling, washed salad leaf, blanched edamame). The MT-AD air dryer removes final surface moisture by air flow on a continuous belt — better for products that are mostly surface-dry but retain a thin moisture film (fried products, lightly washed root vegetables). In IQF vegetable lines, both are often used in sequence: MT-CFD for bulk water removal after ice water cooling, then MT-AD for final surface drying before the IQF tunnel inlet.
