Modified Atmosphere Packaging Machine

The Meatech MT-MAP modified atmosphere packaging machine seals pre-formed rigid trays — CPET, APET, PP, or aluminium — with a high-barrier lidding film under a controlled gas atmosphere, extending the shelf life of fresh meat, seafood, and cooked food products to 7–21 days in chilled conditions without freezing. The machine is equally capable of producing standard vacuum packs, gas-flushed MAP packs, and skin packs from the same unit, giving operators the flexibility to run multiple packaging formats on a single machine.

▌Product Description

The Meatech MT-MAP modified atmosphere packaging machine seals pre-formed rigid trays — CPET, APET, PP, or aluminium — with a high-barrier lidding film under a controlled gas atmosphere, extending the shelf life of fresh meat, seafood, and cooked food products to 7–21 days in chilled conditions without freezing. The machine is equally capable of producing standard vacuum packs, gas-flushed MAP packs, and skin packs from the same unit, giving operators the flexibility to run multiple packaging formats on a single machine.

The MT-MAP-S1 single-station model is suited to medium-volume operations and product lines with frequent tray-size changeovers. The MT-MAP-S2 dual-station model operates both stations alternately, effectively doubling throughput from the same machine footprint — the preferred choice for central kitchen operations and high-volume fresh meat packing facilities where the packaging stage must keep pace with a continuous upstream slicing or portioning line.

German ScH vacuum pumps, US Bonner photoelectric sensing, Mitsubishi PLC control, and modular water-cooled aluminium moulds are standard across both models, matching the engineering and hygiene specification of the upstream Meatech processing equipment.

Role of MT-MAP in the Line

Fresh Meat Cutting & Packing

Seals portioned fresh meat into pre-formed retail trays under MAP atmosphere. The MT-MAP is the preferred choice over MT-HFV where branded or customised pre-formed trays are required, or where frequent tray-size changeover speed is a priority.

Central Kitchen Pre-Processing

Packages multiple SKUs of pre-processed meat — marinated portions, formed patties, meatballs — into standard trays for chilled distribution to outlet networks. The three-in-one vacuum/MAP/skin capability allows the machine to serve multiple packaging specifications without a second machine.

Marinated Meat Ready-to-Cook

Where the product is sold in retail trays rather than pouches, MT-MAP provides the correct packaging format — sealed, gas-flushed tray presentation for supermarket fresh sections and premium food delivery.

▌ FAQ

Q:  What is the difference between MT-MAP and MT-HFV for fresh meat packaging?

A:  The MT-MAP uses pre-formed rigid trays (CPET/APET/PP) that are fed into the machine and sealed with a lidding film. The MT-HFV thermoforms the lower tray itself from a film roll during the packaging cycle. MT-MAP is faster to change over between tray sizes and required where branded pre-formed trays are specified by the retailer. MT-HFV has lower per-pack material cost and more tray dimension flexibility. Both can produce MAP atmosphere packs with equivalent shelf life.

Q:  Can the same machine run both vacuum and MAP packs in the same shift?

A:  Yes. The three-in-one packaging mode means operators can switch between vacuum, MAP, and skin packaging formats by changing the tray type, lidding film, and gas settings — no hardware changeover is required. This is particularly valuable for central kitchen operations that need to pack multiple products to different retailer or food-service specifications in the same shift.

Q:  Where do I source compatible trays and lidding film?

A:  The MT-MAP series is compatible with industry-standard pre-formed rigid trays and lidding film available from major packaging material suppliers globally. Meatech does not supply packaging materials. We provide the tray footprint and film sealing specifications so you can source compatible materials from your preferred local supplier.
