The Meatech MT-CTM corn threshing machine (MT-CTM) separates sweet corn kernels from the cob at 400–500 kg/h — the dedicated first-stage processing step for any IQF sweet corn kernel production line, fresh-cut corn retail packing, or frozen sweet corn ingredient supply. Manual corn threshing at equivalent throughput would require 8–12 operators continuously; the MT-CTM replaces this labour entirely with a single machine and one operator to load and monitor the feed hopper. At 2.2 kW and 100 kg machine weight, it is compact enough to position immediately after the corn receiving and husking stage without requiring floor reinforcement or significant space allocation.

The threshing mechanism separates kernels cleanly from the cob without crushing or damaging the kernel surface — kernel integrity is important both for IQF quality (crushed kernels freeze together and produce poor free-flow characteristics) and for fresh-cut retail presentation (intact kernels present better at the retail counter and in retail packs). Cob and kernel are discharged separately, allowing cob waste to be collected for disposal or composting while the clean kernel stream proceeds to the washing or blanching stage.

▌ FAQ

Q:  Does the threshing mechanism damage corn kernels?

A:  The MT-CTM threshing mechanism is designed to separate kernels from the cob by lateral shear rather than by crushing or impact — the cob passes through the threshing cylinder and kernels are separated by the geometry of the threshing elements without the kernel surface being crushed. In practice, a small percentage of kernels (typically 2–5%) may be split or damaged depending on corn variety, maturity, and moisture content. Younger, higher-moisture corn threshes more cleanly; over-mature or under-watered corn has a higher split rate. The damaged kernel rate can be reduced by processing corn at the correct maturity stage.

Q:  Can the MT-CTM handle both fresh and frozen corn?

A:  The MT-CTM is designed for fresh corn threshing — corn that has been harvested, husked, and processed without freezing. Frozen corn on the cob (at -18°C) is too hard for the standard threshing mechanism and would damage both the corn and the machine. For frozen corn processing, the corn should be fully thawed before threshing. Most corn kernel IQF operations thresh from fresh-harvested corn and freeze the separated kernels — the MT-CTM is correctly positioned before the IQF stage in this sequence.
