Net Bag Packaging Machine

The Meatech MT-NBP automatic net bag packaging machine forms, fills, seals, and prints coding or labelling on net bags in a single continuous operation — replacing the manual net-bagging process for fresh produce (potatoes, onions, garlic, citrus, apples) at 65–80 bags per minute with consistent net-closure quality and accurate fill weight metering. Net bags are the standard retail format for bulk fresh produce in most global markets: the breathable net material allows the product to be seen and inspected by the consumer while maintaining ventilation to extend shelf life during retail display.

▌ Product Description

The Meatech MT-NBP automatic net bag packaging machine forms, fills, seals, and prints coding or labelling on net bags in a single continuous operation — replacing the manual net-bagging process for fresh produce (potatoes, onions, garlic, citrus, apples) at 65–80 bags per minute with consistent net-closure quality and accurate fill weight metering. Net bags are the standard retail format for bulk fresh produce in most global markets: the breathable net material allows the product to be seen and inspected by the consumer while maintaining ventilation to extend shelf life during retail display.

Packaging film width range of 30–320 mm and bag-making size range of 40–200 mm accommodate the full range of retail net bag sizes from small garlic and shallot packs (30–50 mm film width) through medium potato and onion bags (100–200 mm) to large multi-kilo bags (200–320 mm). Packaging speed of 65–80 bags per minute is matched to the output rate of the upstream grading machine, ensuring the packaging stage does not create a bottleneck on the line. The integrated function coverage — packaging, filling, metering, sealing, coding/mark printing, and labelling — in a single 1,100×755×1,750 mm machine footprint minimises the number of separate stations required on the packing line.

▌Solution Applications

Solution / Line

Role of MT-NBP

Potato, Onion & Garlic Washing, Grading & Packing

Terminal packaging stage. Receives graded potatoes, onions, or garlic from the roller grading sorter (MT-RGS) and fills, seals, and labels net bags at 65–80 bags per minute — completing the washing, grading, and packing line with a fully automated bagging stage that requires only one operator to load product into the bag-fill hopper and monitor the output.

Fresh Fruit Washing, Sorting & Packing

Net bag format packaging for bulk citrus, apple, and other round fruit retail formats. The MT-NBP handles the net bag format; where tray or punnet packing is required for premium retail, the MT-LBL-F labeller is used instead.

▌FAQ

Q:  Can the MT-NBP handle both small garlic bags (500 g) and large potato bags (5 kg) from the same machine?

A:  Yes, within the film width range of 30–320 mm and bag size range of 40–200 mm. Changing between bag sizes requires changing the film roll (for different bag width) and adjusting the fill weight setting (for different target weight per bag). The changeover takes approximately 15–20 minutes including film roll change and fill weight calibration. For facilities that frequently switch between very different bag sizes (e.g., 500 g garlic bags and 10 kg potato bags), it may be more efficient to operate two machines — one sized for each format — rather than accepting the frequent changeover downtime.

Q:  What coding and labelling is included?

A:  The MT-NBP includes integrated coding and mark printing for batch code, best-before date, and production date on the bag seal area — using a thermal transfer or ink jet coder fitted to the machine. Adhesive label application (for product name, barcode, weight declaration) can be added as a label applicator module. For export products requiring bilingual or multi-language labelling, pre-printed bag films with the required language content are used rather than in-line label printing.
